I know quite a bit of theory and this book even had me scratching my head. The lack of tablature might make it difficult to apply the material directly to the instrument and large parts of the book might be way over your head, at first.

The traditional vertical approach is popular because it gets you playing chords and songs quickly but it doesn’t allow the brain to develop a solid map of the instrument.

I found this book to really have things which you could apply to pretty much any style you would want to play, even though it is written by a jazz guitar player. Not every exercise is for goovrick taste, and is not intended to be.
